Comfy Lady
Comfy Lady

90 x 59 cm. charcoal on paper. 2018.

This is of a life model in a drawing class, there is a series on these but there were only a few good ones. This one is made with a focus on contrast and line variety.

Un-Comfy Lady
Un-Comfy Lady

80 x 59 cm, charcoal, acrylic paint on paper. 2018

Another life drawing study, this one was an experiment in emotion though expressionism. I remember the life model remarking she was in an uncomfortable postilion and I tried to recreate that reality.

Black Undies
Black Undies

60 x 95 cm, charcoal, ink, pastel on paper.2018.

This was a study in using line and mark making to define shape and form.

Old Man
Old Man

80 x 59 cm, charcoal, ink on paper, 2018.

The ‘Old Man’ was a fun drawing, the weathered nature of the subject allowed for great detail and the chaotic, spontaneous nature of the mark making shows the depth of the subject.

Hand Study
Hand Study

21 x 40 cm, charcoal on paper. 2018.

Just a little study of my hand, using marks and lines to define form.

Lady in Hat
Lady in Hat

118 x 86 cm, charcoal on paper. 2018

An exercise in life drawing techniques but resulted in the start of my use of expressionism and over stylisation.

The Red Cloth
The Red Cloth

84 x 46 cm, charcoal, pastel, ink on paper, 2017.

The use of colour isn’t common in my drawings but when I do I over saturate and exaggerate.

Flamboyant Octopus
Flamboyant Octopus

59 x 42 cm, colour pencil on paper, 2016.

This was made from built up line work in order to create shape and form.

'Fluro' Man
'Fluro' Man

24 x 15 cm, pen, ink on paper. 2018.

This is a quick 10 minute drawing, focusing on exaggerating facial features.

Staring into the Abyss
Staring into the Abyss

90 x 59 cm, charcoal on paper. 2018

This like most of my work stated with a quick study. The difference with this one is the higher emphasis on stylisation.
